ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ Grad Students Earn Top 20 Finish in International Business Analytics Competition

Robert Waterbury

Three ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ graduate students finished in the top 20 of the Inter-University Student Economics Tournament, an international competition that was held online through April and May.

Executive Master’s of Business Administration students Kristin Look, John Unsen, and Aidan Wojciehowski cleared the qualifying round and earned the chance to compete in the final round. The ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ team finished 14th out of the final 24 teams.

β€œThese students competed against some of the best economics graduate students in the world, successfully making the finals,” Dale Lehman, Ph.D., professor of business. β€œThis is quite an achievement for them, especially given that they work full-time and have far less economics training than most of the competitors.”

The tournament utilized economic simulations to challenge the teams. The qualification phase consists of playing through a multi-year scenario against robots to achieve a top score. Those top 24 scores qualified for the finals.

UCLA won the tournament. ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ also competed in the finals against teams from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, ENP Alger, University of Tirana, and IMT Atlantique (France).

ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ now offers a newly designed Master of Science in Applied Analytics (12-month) program along with a Graduate Certificate in Applied Analytics (9-month) program. Both programs are crafted to give working professionals the technical skills and management tools needed to make data-informed decisions. You can learn more about both programs at ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄.edu/graduate.
